బట్టలు పంపిణీ, ప్రకృతి వైపరీత్యాల సమయంలో ముందుండి తమ రీజియన్ తరపున దుప్పట్లు, ఆహార పొట్లాలు, మందులు లాంటివి అందించడం, గుండె జబ్బులతో బాధపడే వారికి ఆపరేషన్ చేయించడం, వికలాంగులకు కృత్రిమ అవయవాల ఏర్పాటుకు తగిన సాయం, వారికి వీల్ చైర్లు లాంటివి పంపిణీ లాంటివి ఎన్నో నిర్వహించారు. అయితే ఆయన లైన్స్ క్లబ్ కెరియర్ లో చెప్పుకోదగ్గ హైలెట్స్ ఏమిటంటే 1990లో జడ్చర్లలో సరైన ఆసుపత్రి లేక ప్రజలు నానా ఇబ్బందులు పడటం చూసి స్వయంగా తన తల్లితండ్రుల పేరిట ఒక హాస్పటల్ నిర్మించి అందించారు. ఇది ఈరోజున మరింత ఎదిగి లక్షలాది మందికి వైద్య సౌకర్యాలు అందిస్తుంది . అలాగే తమ ప్రాంతంలో పత్తి పండించే రైతులకు సరైన మార్కెట్ యార్డు లేక పండిన పంటలను దళారీలు పాలు లేదంటే కనీసం గిట్టుబాటు ధర రాని పరిస్థితితో ఎంతకో అంతకు అమ్ముకోవాల్సిన దుస్థితిని గమించి 20 ఎకరాలు భూమిని 2008 లో (ఆనాడు దీని విలువ రు 8 కోట్లు) మార్కెట్ యార్డ్ నిర్మాణానికి ఇచ్చేశారు. ఈ మార్కెట్ యార్డును ఆనాటి ముఖ్యమంత్రి వైఎస్ రాజశేఖర్ రెడ్డి ప్రారంభించి రైతులను ఆదుకున్న విజయ్ కుమార్ ను ఎంతగానో ప్రశంసించడం జరిగింది. అదేవిధంగా మానసిక వైకల్యంతో బాధపడే పిల్లల పునరావాసం, చికిత్స కోసం రూ 35 లక్షల వ్యయంతో ప్రతిష్టకరమైన లయన్స్ చైల్డ్ డెవలప్మెంట్ సెంటర్ ను నీలోఫర్లో నిర్మించి ఇచ్చారు. ఈ ఆసుపత్రిలో మానసిక వైకల్యానికి చికిత్స చేయడమే కాకుండా గ్రామీణ ప్రాంతాల్లో మానసిక వైకల్యంతో బాధపడే పిల్లలు ఆసుపత్రి వరకు రాకుండానే వారి ఇంటి వద్దనే చికిత్స పొందడానికి వీలుగా నర్సులకు శిక్షణ ఇస్తున్నారు. ఇందుకుగాను నర్సులకు కొంత సొమ్ము చెల్లిస్తే చాలు. ఈ శిక్షణ కారణంగా నర్సులకు ఇలా ఉద్యోగ అవకాశం ఏర్పడుతున్నది. పిల్లలను ఆస్పత్రి వరకు తీసుకొని రావడం ఖర్చు, శ్రమతో కూడిన పని అయినందున దీనికి రూపకల్పన చేసినట్లు విజయకుమార్ చెప్పారు. ఒకరోజున 324 మందికి కంటి చికిత్స చేయించడంతోపాటు 1997లో రక్తదాన శిబిరాలు ఏర్పాటు చేసి 20 వేల యూనిట్లకు పైగా రక్తం సేకరించి అందించడం తాను సాధించిన కొన్ని విజయాలుగా ఆయన చెప్పుకొచ్చారు. అవిశ్రాంతంగా ఇలా పలు సేవా కార్యక్రమాలు చేసిన లయన్ విజయకుమార్ ప్రస్తుతం ఇవ్వ లయన్స్ సభ్యులకు తన సలహాలు సూచనలు అందిస్తూ వారిని నడిపిస్తున్నారు. ఆయన అందించిన విశేష సేవలకు హలో హైదరాబాద్ అభినందనలు అందజేసింది.

The True Lion: Vijay Kumar’s Extraordinary Journey of Service

They wear the same cap – their unwavering determination isn’t solely for themselves; it extends to embrace those around them. Mr. Arikapudi Vijay Kumar, who served as the Governor of the 324 C2 District in the Lions Club, belongs to this category. The Lions Club is synonymous with community service, yet not all Lions uphold the principles of this noble organization with equal diligence. While some may contribute by organizing programs and collecting donations, only a handful offer their own assets for such causes. Vijay Kumar belongs to this select few. Hailing from an esteemed family in Jadcherla, Mahabubnagar district, Arikapudi Purnachandra Rao and Nancharamma exemplified generosity. Purnachandra Rao, hailing from a farming background, always extended a helping hand to those in need. If anyone required assistance, he provided it without hesitation. He believed that giving back to society, which had supported his ascent, was not just a duty but a privilege. They contributed to society to ensure that their prosperity translated into the prosperity of the community. Vijay Kumar has walked this path of service.
 
In his philanthropic journey, he was drawn to the Lions Club. Becoming a Lions Club member and rising to the position of District Governor is a testament to years of tireless effort, a privilege bestowed upon very few. Beyond his personal responsibilities, Vijay Kumar actively participates in various philanthropic activities within Lions Club programs. These include organizing blood donation camps, conducting free eye examinations, providing financial support to talented students, distributing books and uniforms, offering utensils, food, and beds during natural disasters, performing surgeries for head injuries, procuring prosthetic limbs for the physically challenged, and providing wheelchairs to those in need. Furthermore, he has orchestrated numerous initiatives, such as distributing clothes and food to the needy during natural calamities and extending educational and livelihood support to the underprivileged.
 
Vijay Kumar’s contributions to Lions Club programs have often exceeded his contributions to his own household. Yet, one hallmark of his Lions Club career stands out. In 1990, after witnessing the hardships faced by the people in Jadcherla, he built a hospital in honor of his parents. Today, this hospital has expanded its reach, providing medical services to millions. Furthermore, recognizing the plight of cotton farmers in his region, who lacked a proper market yard and were compelled to sell their crops to brokers at unfavorable prices, Vijay Kumar played a pivotal role. In 2008, he donated 20 acres of land (valued at Rs 8 crores at the time) for the construction of a market yard, an initiative appreciated by then-Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for its unwavering support to the farming community.
 
Similarly, a prestigious Lions Child Development Center, costing Rs 35 lakhs, was established at Niloufar for the rehabilitation and treatment of children with mental disabilities. In addition to providing treatment for mental disabilities, this facility also trains nurses to administer care to such children in rural areas, ensuring they can receive treatment at home. This not only aids the children but also generates employment opportunities for nurses. Vijay Kumar conceived this initiative to eliminate the costs and challenges associated with transporting children to and from the hospital. His accomplishments include conducting eye treatments for 324 people in a single day and organizing blood donation camps in 1997, resulting in the collection and distribution of over 20 thousand units of blood.
