He embarked on his journey in Lionism as the Charter 1% Vice President of LC Jadcherla and progressed to become the President in 1989 and later a Zone Chairman, Region chairman and Group Coordinator of Campaign “Sight First”. He was unanimously elected as Vice District Governor 96-97. “Family Care” theme proposed by him achieved tremendous success all around. Vijay Kumar was the driving force behind the donation of ambulances to the rural clubs, building the Lions Child Development Centre at Niloufer Hospital, Hyderabad and construction of 34 Balajyothi Schools.
A record 324 IOL surgeries were performed in One day during his tenure. He was instrumental in the construction of Smt. Nancharamma Purnachandra Rao Memorial Hospital in 1992-93 and handing it over to the Government and also 20 acres of land worth 8 crores was donated for the construction of Purnachandra Rao Memorial Market Yard which was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Y.S.Rajashekhar Reddy. His exemplary services as a leader and as a motivator gained recognition in the form of International President’s Medal for 2000-2001 and 2003-2004 for outstanding lionistic works.This “No Problem” Governor is a recipient of several National and State Levels Honours.
